Yep, I have yet another amp. This one has replaced my LM12 amp for sub duty. It's a beast. The manual specs it for 360W contnuous into 8 ohms, per channel, with no more than 0,09% THD. It tested to around 370W into 8 ohms, both channels driven, with a THD of 0.06%. It was made in May of 1979. There are a bunch of mods that can be made to the 700 series of amps, with the most common being the replacement of the output devics with Motorola MJ15024s (and MJ15025s in the case of a complimentary version). Mine still hs the original Fairchild PL909s for output devices, and RCA drivers on those yucky silicone insulator pads. Those will eventually be replaced with real mica insulators, gobs of heatsink paste, and the fully complimentary MJ15023/24 output device mod. Pictures of my Phase Linear 700 Series II. The Phase Linear still sits on my floor. It's been replaced by a Crown K2. The PL is a great amp, but it can't do 2 ohms per channel. The K2 will happily prvide me with an outlet welding 1250w/ch into 2 ohms, all day long. Assuminh the line voltage doesn't sag too much of course. |
